The goal is to enhance user experiences for researchers, commercial operators, and tourism professionals by delivering a streamlined, intuitive interface tailored to the unique challenges of Arctic and Antarctic navigation.

The portal delivers vital real-time sea ice information, enabling researchers, maritime operators, and policymakers to make informed decisions in some of the world's most challenging environments. By enhancing data accessibility and usability, it supports safer navigation, environmental stewardship, and sustainable operations in the Arctic and Antarctic.

Redesigning the Ice Logistics Portal.

The brief.

Polar View sought to modernize its user interface to integrate Ice Logistics functionality while catering to the existing user base. This critical project aims to improve data accessibility for a global audience of researchers, commercial entities, and environmental advocates.

Our role.

Vizzuality was tasked with designing a scalable, intuitive interface for Polar View’s new platform. Through workshops and iterative design phases, we delivered wireframes, a design prototype, and visual guidelines tailored to Polar View’s unique needs. Our design tried to bridge the gap between functionality and aesthetics, empowering users with seamless navigation, interactive tools, and a futuristic aesthetic. While our contributions focused on discovery and design, the final implementation was managed by the client’s technical team, who made adjustments to fit their specific requirements and constraints. The implemented portal is therefore different from Vizzuality’s visual design.
