Lead Designer - Founder

Sergio researches on data visualization, information design and interface design with a especial focus on geo-information, map related visualizations and geospatial data interaction.

During his Science Computer degree at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, Sergio started working as a web designer and art director. After studying interaction design at "Programa Vostok II" he started being more and more interested in data visualization and information design. He is currently studing Anthropology in a desperate attempt to finally understand the users.

Some time ago he co-founded Vizzuality where he is responsible for design. During this time he has worked for different UN agencies as UNEP-WCMC, GRID-Arendal, IUCN and other international organizations such as the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Global Biodiversity Informatics Facility or SCARMarbin. People say that he founded Vizzuality to be able to oversleep.

Sergio loves to share his knowledge with others. He taught Web Design at CICE and Data Visualization at IE school. He also likes to hang out with his attenders after the sessions.

He is taking part in several initiatives related to Open Data and always tries to talk people into this field giving conferences and participating in different discussion boards.
